JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Quality Assurance, the Metrex Associate QA Chemist is responsible for process control of finished products and chemical analysis of raw materials and competitive products by wet chemical and instrumental methods. Responsible for new method development, and development and/or improvement of test procedures and specifications for finished products and raw materials.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned, in addition to those identified below.

  • Test selected raw materials and finished products for conformance to chemical specifications for existing and new products.

  • Performs random tests of in process materials for conformance to specifications.

  • Evaluates final products to satisfy FDA, OSHA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.

  • Prepares standard solution and reagents for laboratory use.

  • Evaluates data and enters data into data base. Prepares/produces reports, as required.

  • Develops new methods to support product development activities.

  • Performs product development analytical test procedures in support of R&D.

  • Develops, maintains and updates test procedures and specifications for raw materials and finished products.

  • Performs complaint analysis as required.

  • Performs troubleshooting and investigative related to product, process and materials as required.

  • Works with vendors to obtain agreement on testing procedures and specifications for raw materials.

  • Participates in the Material Review Board (MRB) function.

  • Participates in developing and leading Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) team functions and meetings.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent work experience.

  • 1+ years of experience working in similar position in quality assurance testing including working in a laboratory.

  • Must be knowledgeable in the proper handling of chemicals and waste, both hazardous and nonhazardous, as defined by FDA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer in standard business applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experienced with Agilent and LabX software preferred.

  • Experienced in reviewing quality documentation for internal & external stakeholders.
